Maidroom

It's always nice to hear new sounds, and to be honest I really don't know why I haven't posted this here earlier, this is really hot stuff. I was lucky enough to meet Alain Berloty in the south-west of France last summer, it was a real pleasure to listen to him and his cousin (and big Roro) jamming by the pool-side where they gave a particularily good rendition of the Lion King's 'in the jungle'. More on Maidroom and Alain Berloty:

Maidroom is Alain Berloty's electro-acoustic alter ego, brought to life on stage by 7 musicians of varied musical backgrounds which range from Jazz, Soul and classical styles. This project was started only a couple of months ago and all of the music was written and assembled by Alain himself in a small maid's room in Paris last March. the first Maidroom album is titled "Hollywood for Sale" and is composed of 13 tracks, 9 of which were posted to youtube in live version (the videos were viewed more than 15000 times in under 2 months!)

Alain berloty is 23 years old and has already composed music for more than 17 documentaries, short films and commercials, using styles which varied from tahitian-esque ukulele folklore music to modern electro (for those of you who watch french TV, check out Alain's music on 'Vu sur Terre' on France 5). For the remainder of 2010 and 2011, Alain is keeping busy, on his agenda: a dozen new films, several concerts (get ready Paris!) and he's currently in conversation with record labels including EMI and Satellite Music to release the album and hopefully to write some more!
